Did you know there are many styles of acupuncture?

Like western doctors, many acupuncturists only spend 10-15 minutes in the treatment room with you and then leave to treat others patients. Many are trained in large numbers for mass healthcare settings. Some Western Medical providers (nurses, chiropractors, or physical therapists) add acupuncture to their license by taking a few continuing education courses and only 40-100 of additional training.

Truly specialized acupuncturists have a Masters Degree in Acupuncture, and over 2000-3000 hours of clinical training. The best, however are also trained through direct apprenticeship with top clinicians.

Even highly trained acupuncturists tend to offer cookie cutter treatments for mass healthcare consumption. These generalized, or superficial treatments allow acupuncturists to see a larger number of patients, but may provide inconsistent or slow results.

Individualized vs Generalized Care:

To achieve the best results, patients will benefit more from truly individualized high quality care versus treatments which are meant for public healthcare settings.

Features of Generalized Care:

  • Public healthcare settings
  • Learn through continuing education courses
  • Trained by educators and not clinicians
  • Practice multiple disciplines
  • Have quick patient turnaround

Features of Individualized Care:

  • Truly personalized care
  • Masters level training
  • Trained by top clinicians
  • Specializing in acupuncture
  • Provide full time attention in your sessions

Without individualized care you are kept in the acupuncture healthcare system longer and may leave unsatisfied with the end result or the impact on your pocket book.

Quality vs Quantity of Care:

When clinicians take the time to really work with you in the session, the treatments can really be optimized for you as an individual. This also reflects in the education you receive about your condition, and the training and home care planning you receive to achieve permanent results.

Did you know the style of treatment is also important?

Most people area trained in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) or other forms of medicine which focuses exclusively on physical symptoms and generalize stress relief. These styles are optimized for mass healthcare settings, and do not address the emotional, mental or lifestyle components which are invariably contributing to, or causing a person's condition.

While these styles can be effective for temporary relief of physical symptoms - many conditions keep coming back because the condition has not been addressed at the energetic root cause of the imbalance. TCM doesn't ask why the patient has the condition that they do, where it came from and what type of circumstances triggered the condition to develop.

As such healthcare is oriented around treating conditions rather than treating the individual who is having that particular condition.

Treating Patients, not Conditions:

We practice Five-Element Acupuncture which is a style dedicated to diagnosing the individual root cause of imbalance. This cannot be done in a quick fix setting so session length is longer and more in-depth over symptom based approaches. The results obtained from fixing the cause are significantly better than other styles of acupuncture therapy.

Our sessions are 90 minutes in length and accomplish better results than most other styles of acupuncture. Please see a side by side comparison of our services.
